APAK launch VINfinder to help combat motor fraud and theft
APAK Group plc, specialists in motor finance systems, has launched a new service that can help fight vehicle fraud and theft, world-wide.
VINfinder has been expertly designed to assist organisations in their battle against vehicle related crimes. The software allows the user to instantly decode a valid 17 character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), to give true vehicle identification and fast verification. VINfinder translates the elements of an entered VIN to return the vehicle's: country of origin, manufacturer, vehicle and model type, attributes (derivative), year of manufacture and assembly plant. The program can also be used to detect where the VIN plate is situated on a vehicle by listing all possible locations.
Rapid delivery of this information can be essential for police forces, insurance companies and finance houses to help fight against automotive offences. Constant research helps to ensure that VINfinder data is kept as up to date as possible. The database currently contains full details on the vehicles of 121 major manufacturers covering 28 countries and partial information on a further 819 manufacturers covering 42 countries.
"VINfinder will be a useful tool for organisations working to combat vehicle fraud and reduce the risk associated with automotive finance," commented Juliet Allen, Director - APAK Group. "We believe VINfinder is the first world-wide automated service to provide this vehicle identification and verification."
VINfinder is provided online via the Internet and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Subscribing organisations are given a unique password for multiple use over a secure network. Alternatively, organisations can use the data cleaning service by sending their VIN files via FTP for APAK to decode.
